About Me

I am a retired RN, Army Veteran, USCCA Certified CPL Instructor and mother to a grown daughter and two fur babies. I have hunted for deer and used rifles to protect livestock from predators. I never had much experience with handguns. When I was living in Arizona, I joined Armed Women of America to learn more about them. After the death of my husband, I moved back to my home state of Michigan, got my CPL and settled in. I began to realize there were a lot of women who hunted here in Northeast Michigan and knew rifles quite well. However, they did not know much about handguns or getting their CPL. Many women I talked to did not feel comfortable in a class filled with men whether they were their husbands, boyfriends or strangers to learn about handguns. So, I decided to become a USCCA Certified Instructor and offers classes to women only. In addition, I am the Chapter Leader of Armed Women of America, Alpena, Michigan, a member of the Alpena Sportsman’s Club and a lifetime member of the NRA. I own 40 acres of hunting property and that is where you will often find me and my dogs seeking my solace in the woods.
